What was the framework of our discussion in determining the floor, ceiling and likely middle of the 2023 Longhorn offense?

Quarterback

Quinn Ewers – How does he level up from inconsistent to dangerous with the help of 11 personnel, personal growth, better fitness and confidence? Does he need a set base to improvise off of?

How do Maalik Murphy and Arch Manning raise the floor and provide insurance for 2023? What makes Murphy so special?

Running Back

Jonathon Brooks – Can he be the bell cow? Does Texas need one?

Keilan Robinson – How does the ultimate team guy continue his level up as a pass catcher and runner?

Cedric Baxter – How will the young bull emerge as the season progresses? What needs work and what is already unique?

How do Jaydon Blue and Savion Red contribute? Is it all about on-field ability or coach’s trust?

Wide Receiver

Xavier Worthy – The superhero that needs the other Avengers to open up his game. How will his return to his best role help him? Is there a scarier receiver in the league faced up on a defender in space?

AD Mitchell – True star potential. How does he open up the offense? What’s his superpower?

Isaiah Neyor – A larger, fight-for-the-ball downfield threat with underrated ability in the under routes. What does it mean if he’s fully back?

Jordan Whittington – A stabilizing force, and ‘we over me’ comfort blanket. Is the talented Whittington now our 5th best receiving option?

How will Casey Cain, DeAndre Moore, Johntay Cook and Ryan Niblett round out a talent rotation?

Tight End

Ja’Tavion Sanders – The NFL player that can make the catch and secure the split zone block. How does his role change with this receiver talent?

How does the transition away from heavy 12 impact snaps for Gunnar Helm, Juan Davis, Spencer Shannon, Will Randle, Patrick Bayouth?

Offensive Line

Why are Kelvin Banks and Christian Jones a Top 5 national tackle duo? Banks is a phenom, but Jones is the argument for developmental patience.

Where’s the real battle? It’s probably not at center and Jake Majors. What do Hayden Conner and Cole Hutson need to do to retain their starting jobs and stay heavy in the snap rotation?

Which youngsters are a true threat to start or cement a role in two deep? Who is the 3rd tackle? Who is the 3rd guard? Who is the backup center?

Final

Can Texas really field a better offense after losing two outstanding NFL running backs?

Turning it to the reader/viewer, what’s the best case for the Longhorn offense? What is the best base personnel group? Will Texas have a 1,000+ yard rusher or receiver? How many Texas pass catchers will grab 50+ balls in 2023?

How many athletes from this unit will have their name called in the 2024 NFL Draft?
