Frank Haith to join the Texas basketball staff
Memphis associate head coach Frank Haith is joining Rodney Terry’s staff at Texas.
The return of Haith to the Texas program is a major addition, to say the least. Haith, 57, was an assistant for Rick Barnes from 2001-04 before being hired as the head coach of the Miami Hurricanes. Haith recruited Big 12 Player of the Year P.J. Tucker to Texas, convincing Barnes to sign Tucker without ever seeing him play in person.
Haith was also very key in the recruitments of McDonald’s All-American’s LaMarcus Aldridge and Daniel Gibson to Texas. As well as former Longhorns on Elite Eight teams – A.J. Abrams, Kenton Paulino and Connor Atchley.

Haith was on the Texas coaching staff that reached the Final Four in 2003, which includes a close relationship with T.J. Ford to this day.
After leaving Texas, Haith was a head coach for 18 seasons with stops at Miami, Missouri and Tulsa. He compiled a career head coaching record of 320-237, which included a 75-72 loss to Texas in the Round of 32 in 2008. Texas went on to the Elite Eight before losing to No. 1 seed Memphis that year. Haith won the Big 12 Tournament in 2012 at Missouri, and was named the Big 12 Coach of the Year by the AP. He was also named the AP National Coach of the Year in 2012.
