The first national signing period for college football runs from December 21-23. That puts it a week later than normal, which allows you even more time to familiarize yourself with the next class charged with helping restore Texas back to national prominence.
The preceding 2022 class is already off to a good start, but the way to win at a consistently high level is to stack talented class after talented class. At all times you need young players developing, creating competition, and providing valuable depth before becoming quality starters.
The top 5 contending 2023 class is just what Texas needed after the top 5 2022 class.
In the lead-up to NSD1, Inside Texas will offer profiles of each member of the 2023 signing class.
Next up, Ryan Niblett.
The Player: Ryan Niblett, WR, Aldine (Texas) Eisenhower, 5-foot-11, 170 pounds
The Rating: 94.58, On3 Consensus four-star
The Ranking:
The Recruitment: Alabama was the lead dog for a while after Nick Saban came to Eisenhower to see him in person. Texas A&M tried to push for Niblett, but by that time Brennan Marion had built a strong relationship after he was named Texas wide receivers coach in January of 2022. After the spring game, Niblett joined Tre Wisner as they both committed to Texas that night. Despite a late visit to Houston, Niblett recently reaffirmed his commitment to Texas.
The Projection: The 5-foot-11, 170-pound On3 four-star is the prototypical inside receiver in the Texas offense. His 10.69 100m speed, body control, route-running, and hands give him an advantage against most defensive backs. He’s a slot receiver by trade, with an ability to use his quick twitch to get open early and often.

The Reasoning: “Everything is cool with Texas. It’s going well. The receiver room is big at Texas, but that’s not a problem for me. Competing isn’t a problem.” – Niblett told Inside Texas in August
The Relationship: Sarkisian and Brandon Harris offered Niblett during the 2021 season. Once Marion arrived at Texas, the Houston-area standout built a relationship with his future position coach that led to his sudden commitment in April.
The Enrollment: Niblett will arrive in June.
The Final Word: Niblett is the type of dynamic playmaker at wideout that really makes Steve Sarkisian’s offense flourish. Niblett is joining Johntay Cook and potentially one more high school receiver in the Class of 2023, replenishing the WR room with more speed and quickness for the Texas passing attack.
