The first national signing day for college football begins December 4 and runs through December 6. This series gives you the chance to familiarize yourself with the next class charged with keeping Texas in a position of national prominence.
To win at a consistently high level means stacking talented class after talented class. The top-five 2025 class does just that following top-six finishes in the 2022, 2023, and 2024 classes.
On the first national signing day, Inside Texas will offer profiles of each member of the 2025 signing class. Up next, Emaree Winston.
The Player: Emaree Winston, TE, Calhoun (Ga.)
The Rating: 88.05 (three-star)
The Ranking: Winston is ranked as the No. 582 overall prospect, the No. 30 tight end, and the No. 72 player in Georgia in the On3 Industry Ranking. On3 ranks Winston as the No. 42 tight end and the No. 80 player in Georgia.
The Highlights:
The Recruitment: Winston visited Texas for the Texas-OU bash and the Texas-BYU game before electing to commit in December of 2023. UCF was involved and Ohio State did its due diligence on the Georgia product, but he ultimately elected to commit to Texas. There was some late flirtation with Auburn and UCF, but Winston remained all Texas.

The Projection: Winston strikes as a traditional, in-line blocking tight end who has the capability to move around as a blocking H-back. A comparison for the Georgia four-star is Dwayne Allen. He’s strong at the point of attack and is capable of finishing blocks on run plays. His film also shows reliable hands, something backed up by his almost 1000 yards in 2023 and his 16 points and 13 rebounds per game for Calhoun’s basketball team.
Winston, compared to other tight ends, has a more limited athletic skill set. He’s not particularly fast nor does he have great foot speed. His usage might be more limited at the next level as a result. He’s a great piece in a multi-tight end class.
The Reasoning: Winston was impressed by Ja’Tavion Sanders’ 2023 performance and built a strong relationship with him, viewing himself as a potential successor.

The Final Word: While not as athletic as some tight ends, Winston’s blocking ability and reliability make him an essential piece in Texas’ tight end rotation.
