The Highlights:

The Recruitment: A one-time Alabama commit, Ffrench backed off his pledge to the Crimson Tide in the aftermath of the retirement of Nick Saban. Local schools like Florida State, Florida, and Miami pursued the 6-foot-1, 184-pounder as did national programs like Texas, LSU, and Ohio State. The Longhorns earned an official visit in June, one of several for Ffrench to Austin during the spring of 2024, and earned his pledge on the eve of the season of Miami and Florida on August 30. Despite a late push by the Gators, Ffrench stuck with his Longhorns commitment.

The Projection: Ffrench is a really smooth athlete at 6-foot-1, 185 pounds. He has terrific body control and ball skills which when combined with the smaller stature of high school players, often makes him look pretty big on his highlights. His track times suggest he’s not a burner but he’s so economical in his route running and cuts on the field that he ends up looking awfully fast. Ffrench makes a lot of sense as a boundary receiver who can reliably get open at the chains, make contested catches down the field, and be a high volume target outside.

The Final Word: Steve Sarkisian and Chris Jackson battled in-state and national programs for one of the best receivers in the class. The combination of opportunity in Sarkisian’s offense, plus robust opportunities for Ffrench off the field in Austin, made the Longhorns the perfect fit for the On3 Industry Ranking four-star.
