The Highlights:
The Recruitment: Once an LSU commit, Simon eventually decided to leave Louisiana for Texas, impressed by the Longhorns’ running back development under Tashard Choice. He made his commitment at the On3 Elite Series in May, tooks his official visits in June, and remained steadfast in his pledge.
The Projection: Simon’s high school offense emphasized a throwback run scheme, the draw, which requires great burst and lateral agility. Simon executes jump cuts effectively and uses his quickness to find gaps. He’s a natural fit for zone or gap running schemes, similar to Jonathon Brooks. His ability to bounce runs outside or dart through interior gaps makes him a versatile weapon.
The Reasoning: Simon was drawn to the way Choice utilizes his running backs in versatile and productive roles. The culture and rotation opportunities at Texas sealed his decision.

The Final Word: Simon gives Texas a back who excels at making defenders miss and consistently breaks arm tackles. His patient, methodical running style allows him to thrive as the game progresses.
