The first national signing day for college football begins December 20 and runs through December 22. This series gives you the chance to familiarize yourself with the next class charged with keeping Texas in a position of national prominence.

To win at a consistently high level means stacking talented class after talented class. The top-five 2024 class does just that following top-five finishes in the 2022 and 2023 classes.

On the first national signing day, Inside Texas will offer profiles of each member of the 2024 signing class. Up next, D’antre Robinson.

The Player: D’antre Robinson, DL, Orlando (Fla.) Jones

The Rating: 90.50 (four-star)

The Ranking: Robinson is ranked as the No. 273 overall prospect, the No. 28 defensive lineman, and the No. 35 prospect in Florida in the On3 Industry Ranking. On3 ranks Robinson as the No. 166 overall prospect, the No. 15 defensive lineman, and the No. 21 prospect in Florida.

The Highlights:

The Recruitment: Robinson’s recruitment was a battle between Texas, Florida, and Georgia with Ohio State on the outside looking in. He took a trip to see the Longhorns, Gators, and Bulldogs in June and eventually committed to the Longhorns on July 20. There were some twists and turns, as Robinson visited Florida in a way that put his status in the Texas 2024 class at risk, but the issue was smoothed over and the Gators faded from consideration.

The Projection: Good height for interior line. Could fit at 3-tech or nose. Good ankle, hip and knee bend. Can stay low off the snap and usually displays good leverage. Active hands with some swim/rip moves. Feet are quick and generally stay active. Good straight line speed and change of direction for his size. Delivers a decent stun to the blocker and upper body strength is impressive. Plays head up and is looking to diagnose the play early. Against the run, he flattens out to keep his gap. Shows good play strength at the point of attack. Usually anchors with really good leverage. High motor. Closes the last few yards quickly. In pass situations, will put together legitimate combinations to out leverage the blocker. Productive tackler for an interior lineman.

The Reasoning: “The Texas Longhorns made me feel like I was at home at my unofficial visit and my official visit. It was a win-win situation for me, and I have a few guys from the Orlando area that go there.”

The Relationship: “Coach Bo Davis, when we talked, he always tells me he wants to make me super valuable when it comes to the NFL draft. He wants me to play not just 3-tech, but he wants me to play outside and inside because he knows that my footwork and the way I move from outside, I could play in or out and I can play on passing downs.”

The Enrollment: Robinson is an early enrollee.

The Final Word: Texas held onto the big human from Florida who could make an immediate impact on the defensive line with a handful of NFL departures likely.
