How the 63 voters of the USA TODAY AFCA Coaches Poll ranked Texas
The Texas Longhorns finished the season ranked No. 25 in the final AP poll, and did the same in the USA TODAY AFCA Coaches Poll. The Longhorns were the second-highest ranked 8-5 team, two spots behind No. 23 South Carolina.

Texas was given a first-place vote in the preseason coaches poll, though it was never revealed which of the 63 head coaches thought that highly of the Longhorns. UT head coach Steve Sarkisian was not a voter for the poll this season, so he couldn’t have placed his own program in such high regard.
For the end of the year poll, USA TODAY makes the final ballot of the year public. Most coaches who even placed Texas in the top 25 of their rankings had the Longhorns in the No. 21-25 range with one major exception. San Diego State head coach Brady Hoke listed the Longhorns as the No. 16 team in the nation in his final poll.
