Texas has played 14 games on two other occasions in program history. The first was in 2009, when the Longhorns went 12-0, won the Big 12 over Nebraska for win No. 13, and lost to Alabama in the BCS National Championship in game 14.

It would be almost a decade until the Horns played that many games. In 2018, the Sam Ehlinger-led horns went 9-3 in the regular season and earned a berth in the Big 12 Championship. There, they lost to the Oklahoma Sooners but topped the Georgia Bulldogs in the 2019 Sugar Bowl.
The wait wasn’t as long this time, only five years. But it’s time for a look at the offensive and defensive numbers recorded in each of those three seasons.
