About Inside Texas
Inside Texas was founded in 1985 by well-known Austin political and sports journalist Robert Heard. Initially a newsletter and magazine, Inside Texas eventually moved to the internet.
In 1997, contributors Clendon Ross and Micheal Pearle purchased the publication from Heard. They oversaw Inside Texas through the up years of Mack Brown and the down years of Charlie Strong and Tom Herman.
In November 2020, longtime Inside Texas writer Eric Nahlin, along with a small group of investors, bought Inside Texas from Ross and Pearle. Soon after, in August 2021, the proud independent site jumped at the chance to join the On3 network.

About Inside Texas photographer Will Gallagher
Will Gallagher has been shooting for Inside Texas since 2002. Will graduated from UT in 1990 and has followed the Longhorns closely ever since his father, a graduate student at the time, tutored Earl Campbell in 1977 to earn extra money.
“I bugged my dad ALL season to ask Earl if he would come eat dinner with us. After saying no many, many times he finally he gave in and asked Earl. In what was easily the best day of my life at the time, Earl Campbell showed up at our little apartment one evening and ate enchiladas with us. I remember thinking that he literally looked like a super hero and he was really nice — he signed a football and just kind of hung out with us for a couple of hours.”
The fact that Earl would do such a nice thing during his Heisman season said a lot about him. Many years later Will joined Inside Texas during Mack Brown’s tenure. Good timing! He has covered two National Title games, a Final Four, and conference title games in several sports. He’s also spent many hours and miles driving with writers Justin Wells and/or Joe Cook to cover road games. He and his wife live in Austin with their son and one dog.
