Inside Texas' HS game of the week: Arlington Martin vs. Temple
As the Texas high school football season reaches mid-September, that can only mean that district play is either here or just around the corner. Many teams still have one more non-district game to play, and one of those high-profile matchups involving several Texas Longhorns recruiting targets takes place on Friday not too far from Austin.

On3 Consensus four-star Mikal Harrison-Pilot and the Temple Wildcats welcome fellow On3 Consensus four-star Javien Toviano and the Arlington Martin Warriors to Wildcat Stadium in Temple on Friday for a showdown between two talented 6A programs. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
Martin features three players ranked as On3 Consensus three-stars or higher, and one player ranked as an On3 Consensus four-star. Temple has also has three players ranked as On3 Consensus three-stars or higher, and one player ranked as an On3 Consensus four-star.
Temple enters the contest 2-1. In Week 1, the Wildcats defeated McKinney on the road by a score of 17-10. Then in the home opener, Temple beat Willis 34-20. Temple’s first loss of the year came last week at the hands of College Station, who defended home turf by a score of 45-35.
Martin also boasts a 2-1 record. The Warriors opened the season with a nationally-televised 39-31 win over Lake Travis before routing Cedar Hill 44-6. The Allen Eagles gave Martin its first loss with last week’s 27-16 result.

After falling during a Week 1 contest against out-of-state power Bellflower (Calif.) St. John Bosco, the Allen Eagles recovered to top 2023 Texas commit Dylan Spencer by a score of 49-14.
