Inside Texas' HS game of the week: Duncanville vs. South Oak Cliff
Week one of the 2022 Texas high school football season is here, and it begins with a blockbuster in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. 2021 UIL 5A Division II champion and Dave Campbell’s Texas Football magazine cover team Dallas South Oak Cliff faces 6A Division I state finalist Duncanville on Saturday at 6 p.m. at John Kincaide Stadium in Dallas. The game will be televised on ESPN2.

“I would love to go a game this week,” Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian said Thursday. “There’s a big one up north, but they’re not going to let me go to that one.”
NCAA rules prevent Sarkisian from heading to the Metroplex, but he’ll assuredly be watching the matchup the Panthers and the Golden Bears after the current Texas team goes through a “mock game.”
Not only are several players committed to playing, but so too are several top targets in the 2023, 2024 and 2025 classes.

The two Longhorn commits playing are Golden Bears. Malik Muhammad, ranked as the No. 42 overall 2023 prospect in the On3 Consensus, and Billy Walton, an On3 Consensus three-star, will try to claim superiority for Dallas ISD in a matchup between schools just 10 miles apart.
The contest is sure to draw eyes not only from around the Metroplex, but the state and country, too. SOC has nine players rated as a three-star or better in the 2023 On3 Consensus, one four-star in the 2024 On3 Consensus, and one 2025 prospect rated as an On3 four-star.
Duncanville has four players rated as an On3 Consensus three-star or better in the 2023 class, two in 2024, and one 2025 prospect rated as an On3 four-star.
