Texas defeated Louisiana-Monroe 52-10 behind a strong first showing from freshman quarterback Quinn Ewers and what looked like a drastically improved defense.

Ewers looked shaky to start the game, throwing an interception on just his second pass before settling in, with a final stat line of 16-24 for 225 yards, 2 touchdowns, and an interception.
The Horns’ defense allowed just 10 points and the pass rush got home three times.
D’Shawn Jamison had a particularly impactful night, blocking a punt and returning an interception for a touchdown.
