The Texas Longhorns held their first full scrimmage of the spring on Thursday night, shuffling the M-W-F schedule slightly. Most of the practice was spent working in the red zone, where the defensive side of the ball got the best of the offense at the end of the day.
The scrimmage meant for the first time all spring the offensive and defensive lines truly battled. Some of the names on the D-line that did more than hold their own include Travis Shaw and Alex January.
A standout on defense just off the line of scrimmage was Liona Lefau. Working alongside Anthony Hill, Lefau continued to play coverage properly while getting physical in the run game. He’s grown under position coach Johnny Nansen, who heaped praise on Lefau for his efforts.
