Positive recovery updates from Steve Sarkisian on RBs Cedric Baxter and Christian Clark. Clark is reportedly progressing faster than expected and could make a more significant impact in the upcoming season than Baxter, despite having a potentially more serious foot injury.
Within the team, Clark is being seen as the most dynamic back on the roster. There’s growing excitement about his ability to be a “home run” threat, possibly reshaping the RB hierarchy if he remains healthy.
Chad Scott may be exploring the transfer portal for another RB addition. Although portal talks were previously downplayed, the team is now seriously considering adding a speed back due to past injury concerns and roster depth.
Texas is repositioning players on defense. Jaylon Gilbeau, formerly a nickel corner, is expected to start at outside CB this season. Coaches hope he mirrors last year’s breakout by Jahdae Barron, and insiders believe he could beat out Kobe Black and Warren Roberson.

With four OL starters leaving for the NFL, Texas is excited about the upcoming group, including DJ Campbell, Cole Hutson, and standout Trevor Goosby. Despite some questions at right tackle, the staff is optimistic about both talent and scheme flexibility.
True freshman Nick Brooks is making waves in practice, pushing upperclassmen and possibly earning playing time, especially at guard. He’s labeled as a high-potential surprise outpacing his recruit rating.
