The University of Texas football team is facing a shortage in their running back room, with injuries to key players like CJ Baxter and Christian Clark, leaving them with only three scholarship running backs.

The team still has Jaydon Blue, who is considered the best player in the room, and Tre Wisner, who might be ready to step up despite being ideally a year away from a bigger role.

Pass protection has become a major concern, especially with the loss of their best pass protector. The team needs players who can distribute the load of 33 to 35 carries and contribute in pass-catching.

Potential off-roster options are being considered, including players from other programs whose coaches recently left, opening a 30-day transfer window.

The team is exploring various strategies, including using tight ends like Juan Davis in a running back role to provide pass protection and additional versatility.
