ITYT: Deep Dive - How QB play will decide the winner of Texas vs. Texas A&M
On a Thanksgiving episode of the Deep Dive on the Inside Texas YouTube channel, Ian Boyd and Paul Wadlington explain why the two quarterbacks, Texas’ Quinn Ewers and Texas A&M’s Marcel Reed, will be critical in determining the outcome in the return of the Lone Star Showdown.

The two focus on the specific matchup at the quarterback position. Texas A&M has played two different quarterbacks this season, but the starting role has recently belonged to Marcel Reed. That’s changed how A&M has run offense in recent weeks, and the two analyze how Texas will need to prepare for Kyle Field.
The skill set of Reed is the next topic, as he embodies a manifestation of Aggie offensive coordinator Collin Klein. In some of his games with a quality running game with Le’Veon Moss, he posted quality stats. Without Moss, he became the focal point of the Aggie offense with 56 plays he was responsible for against Auburn. Boyd and Wadlington go over the methodology that would play into Texas’ advantage.

The two then flip the discussion on how Mike Elko might try to attack the Texas offense. Wadlington says the best way for Steve Sarkisian to get the upper hand is for it to be Sark versus Elko as opposed to Quinn Ewers versus Elko. The best way for that to happen is to run the football successfully and stay ahead of schedule.
