Freshmen in the Longhorns’ class of 2025 started offseason strength and conditioning today, and Nahlin explains what the process for them looks like. Players are learning the types of lifts and exercises the staff wants them to do and how to do them properly. The rest of the team will join them in about 10 days. Some true freshmen like Lance Jackson and Justus Terry have already been on campus. Nahlin mentions Terry has already drawn rave reviews.

With Matthew Golden, Isaiah Bond, and Silas Bolden all leaving, there’s a need for younger receivers and skill players to step up. DeAndre Moore Jr. is now the elder statesman of that group, so it’s critical he becomes an example for players like Aaron Butler, Parker Livingstone, Kaliq Lockett, Michael Terry, Jaime Ffrench, and Daylan McCutcheon.

The two then discuss how important it is that Trey Moore is returning for next year’s team. Moore, who has improved his play at every stop in his career, provides Texas one of the best EDGE rooms in the country but also the depth needed to keep both he and Colin Simmons fresh. The reported departure of Amari Niblack is discussed, as Texas now has to depend on youth or possibly the portal for a new tight end.

Speaking of the portal, the needs at DT, DB, RB, WR, and TE could be addressed by the spring portal window. The two observe what they think the priorities will be for Texas in the upcoming window.
