Texas has brought in Mark Orphey as a defensive backs coach and Errin Joe as a scouting department hire. Orphey will help with the defensive secondary, while Joe strengthens Texas’ presence in Georgia’s recruiting scene.

The additions emphasize youth, energy, and recruiting prowess, with Orphey contributing NFL-caliber DB development and Joe bringing deep scouting experience from Georgia Tech.

With Tashard Choice leaving for the NFL, Texas is searching for a new RB coach. Names such as Khenon Hall (Baylor) are being considered, and interest in the position is high

The 2024 and 2025 SEC football schedule remains at 8 games, but a shift to 9 games in 2026 is expected. This move boosts revenue for top teams but makes bowl eligibility harder for others.

Texas Basketball: The team is struggling in SEC play (15-10, 4-8 in conference), sitting on the bubble for the NCAA tournament. While Texas fans have high expectations, the lack of strong coaching candidates makes a change unlikely for now.
