Inside Texas held it’s second livestream of the day after Texas Homer and Eric Nahlin discussed the Texas roster and projected depth chart in depth this a.m.

Nahlin returned this evening and was joined by host LC, Ian Boyd, and Paul Wadlington. Given it’s the Monday before the first game of the season there was plenty to discuss.

Steve Sarkisian took to the podium for his first Monday press conference of the season. The group highlights some of the points the Texas head coach made, including leadership and his preference to play as many players as possible against Colorado State.

Sark’s comments on leadership would normally be concerning. Rather than isolating a couple of players who stand out, he mentioned he could name 20-30 players. The old adage of ‘if you have a lot of leaders, you don’t have any’ would normally be a concern. Nahlin and Boyd agree it’s something worth noting, though program culture remains strong. Wadlington mentions leaders are often revealed within the season which is true. Texas became Roschon Johnson’s team when he willed the Horns to victory against Kansas State in the final game of the 2021 season.

As for emptying the bench early and often, that’ll probably matter more if you’re gambling on the game, which we don’t recommend given Sark’s preference for playing so many players and remaining vanilla. However, Texas could win the game by simply playing clean, minimizing penalties and busted assignments, and playing sound defense against some concepts that gave the Horns issues last year. The group flashed back to last year’s game against U of H.

Recruiting is discussed. Nahlin is asked which positions are still needed in the cycle and he also mentions huge recruiting prediction ($) he made earlier this afternoon.
