Texas on the Bubble: The Longhorns’ chances for the NCAA tournament are uncertain. After a tough loss to South Carolina and four defeats in five games, Texas is projected as one of the last teams in or out of the bracket, depending on the source.

Defensive Struggles: Texas’ defense, once a strength, has faltered. Allowing over 75 points in multiple losses, including a 103-point disaster against Alabama, has severely hurt their tournament hopes.

Offense Lacks Aggression: The team lacks an elite rim attacker, making scoring difficult. They rely heavily on perimeter shooting but struggle to create open looks due to poor spacing and limited playmaking.

Home vs. Away Disparity: Texas plays significantly better at home, benefitting from crowd energy. However, their shooting percentage and defensive effort drop off dramatically in away games.

Role Definition Issues: The roster lacks a clear hierarchy. Players with similar offensive tendencies (mid-range shooters) clog the system, leading to inefficient possessions and an unclear offensive identity.

Lack of Physicality: The team struggles against physically dominant opponents, getting out-rebounded and bullied in the post. This exposes their defensive vulnerabilities and reduces second-chance opportunities.

Poor Rim Protection: With only one true rim protector (Kadin Shedrick), Texas gets overwhelmed inside. The lack of defensive anchors forces them to rely on jump shots rather than easy points at the rim.

The Road Ahead: Texas must win at least three of their last four games against Arkansas, Georgia, Mississippi State, and Oklahoma to solidify their tournament spot. Improving defensive rotations and attacking the rim aggressively are key to their success.
