Texas fired David Pierce and hired Jim Schlossnagle, a significant move for their baseball program.

Jim Schlossnagle has a strong relationship with Texas’ Athletic Director Chris Del Conte from their time together at TCU.

David Pierce was let go due to a lack of deep postseason runs, struggles in the transfer portal, and the upcoming competitive challenges of the SEC.

Jim Schlossnagle has had successful stints at UNLV, TCU, and Texas A&M, building strong programs and achieving significant milestones.

Texas is expected to offer a substantial financial package to Schlossnagle, making him one of the highest-paid baseball coaches in the country.

Austin’s appeal as a growing city and destination job played a part in Schlossnagle’s decision to move from College Station to Austin.

Texas aims to make a long-term commitment to him to ensure sustained success.
