ITYT: What Jonah Williams brings to the Texas Longhorns
Justin Wells and Joe Cook go over what the addition of five-star safety Jonah Williams mean for the Texas Longhorns after the Galveston Ball product chose Texas over LSU, Texas A&M, Oregon, USC, and Oklahoma.

Wells and Cook discuss how Williams is likely one of the biggest additions in the cycle not just for on-field need but also for momentum purposes. It was a recruitment that needed not just the football program but also Jim Schlossnagle’s baseball program, and it was one the Longhorns coordinated from the top down in order to win.
Texas overcame efforts from Oklahoma, LSU, Oregon, LSU, and Texas A&M to win this battle for the early enrollee. There were times most of the Longhorns’ contenders traded real estate at the top, but Eric Nahlin mentioned in March that the Horns were likely to win out according to one of his sources.
Wells and Cook give Blake Gideon his due credit on this recruitment. Jeff Choate was recruiting Williams as a linebacker in the early stages of this recruitment. Once Choate left for Nevada, Gideon did what was needed to make Williams comfortable with picking Texas.
Cook and then Wells go over the impact the baseball program with Schlossnagle at the helm had in this recruitment. Texas had to make sure the Horns checked the baseball box and they did exactly that after Schloss took over in Austin.
