Jaylan Ford to return for his senior season

Texas linebacker Jaylan Ford announced Saturday he will return for his senior season with the Longhorns. Inside Texas reported this was likely to occur on Thursday.

Ford was a first-team All-Big 12 selection and a third-team All-American according to the Associated Press. He played in all 13 games for the Longhorns this season with 12 starts. He tallied 119 tackles, 10.0 tackles for loss, two sacks, three forced fumbles, to fumble recoveries, four interceptions, two quarterback hurries, and two pass breakups.

He had 53 tackles in 2021 and led the Longhorns with 6.0 TFL. Ford played in all 10 games of the 2020 season, including starting in the Valero Alamo Bowl win over Colorado.

A member of Texas’ class of 2020, Ford was ranked as the No. 1190 overall prospect, the No. 135 linebacker, and the No. 144 prospect in the state of Texas according to the On3 Consensus.
