Jordan Whittington almost quit football, but he stuck with the sport. He became a key part, if not the heart and soul, of the Texas Longhorns during Steve Sarkisian’s tenure. On day three of the NFL Draft, Whittington saw a lifelong dream come true. Whittington was picked by the Los Angeles Rams with the No. 213 overall pick in the 6th round of the 2024 NFL Draft.

Whittington is the 11th Longhorn to be selected, joining Byron Murphy, Xavier Worthy, T’Vondre Sweat, Jonathon Brooks, Adonai Mitchell, Ja’Tavion Sanders, Christian Jones, Jaylan Ford, Keilan Robinson, and Ryan Watts.

Whittington’s career had an inauspicious start. He appeared in 41 games with 25 starts. He appeared in just one game in 2019, his freshman season, before a groin injury suffered in high school ended his debut campaign.

Then in 2020, he logged a strong start to the season before missing five games due to injury.

In 2021, he made waves as Texas’ top target alongside Xavier Worthy before once again losing time due to injury.

His breakout campaign came in 2022, when he played in 13 games with 12 starts. He caught 50 passes for 652 yards and one score, including a 22-yard touchdown reception against Iowa State.
