The 6-foot-1, 208-pound wide receiver with strong hands and route running precision entered the NCAA transfer portal December 4.
After entering the portal on the first day it opened, the former Richmond (Va.) Highland Springs wide receiver instantly became one of the most coveted wide receivers.
Texas and Tennessee were immediately said to be two schools that had interest in Wells, and vice versa.
Oregon and Ole Miss also became two schools worthy of mention in the recruitment of the 2022 First-Team All-SEC selection.

Wells at James Madison and South Carolina
Antwane “Juice” Wells came out of Highland Springs High in Virginia as a lightly recruited prospect. He blossomed right away at James Madison to the tune of 33 receptions for 603 yards with six touchdowns as a freshman in 2020. He became a star for JMU in 2021, where he was a teammate of former Texas linebacker Diamate Tucker-Dorsey. Tucker-Dorsey joined OnTexasFootball Monday morning and spoke about his relationship with Wells.
Wells garnered numerous FCS All-American honors in his two seasons at James Madison University.
Wells transferred to South Carolina for the 2022 season, and caught 68 passes for 928 yards and six touchdowns. He was named First-Team All-SEC by league coaches, along with the South Carolina Steve Spurrier Award – MVP Offense
Wells missed the majority of the 2023 season with a foot injury.
Texas Longhorns WR room
The Longhorns are set to lose Jordan Whittington following the season, and junior’s Xavier Worthy and Adonai Mitchell are expected to enter the NFL Draft. Texas has a number of young receivers in the program, and on the way. Only former 5-star Johntay Cook has played meaningful snaps.
