Kansas vs. Texas features unique tests for both rosters and coaching staffs
The Jayhawks’ O is legit. Today will be the toughest test for the Longhorn defense all regular season in my opinion. As tough or tougher than OU next week. Same with Kansas State and TCU down the line.

Furthermore, Texas will not face a team this regular season that executes its offense better than the Kansas Jayhawks.
Why?
They have a triggerman, they have talent, they have experience, they have a great scheme and they have excellent coaching.
But…
Likewise, the Texas D will be the toughest test the Jawhawks’ offense faces all regular season.
Why?
The Horns have a strong defensive front, playmakers abound, they have ample experience, a great scheme and excellent coaching.
So today, it’s strength on strength for these two teams. And I think each side will win its fair share of those battles.

That’s largely why I think the game will actually be decided on the other side of the equation – the Texas O vs the Kansas D.
If the Texas offense comes out strong, it’ll be difficult for Kansas to be as perfect as they need to be on their own offense to keep up. However, if the Texas O comes out flat, that’ll give the Kansas O some time to win its share of battles and make the game a tight one.
The Horns need to suffocate the Jayhawks from the start, and the Horns need to do it on both sides of the ball.
