Kelvin Banks, Jahdae Barron, Anthony Hill named The Sporting News All-Americans
Kelvin Banks and Jahdae Barron were named first-team All-Americans by The Sporting News on Wednesday while Anthony Hill was added to the second team. The Sporting News, along with the American Football Coaches Association, the Walter Camp Football Foundation, the Football Writers Association of America, and the Associated Press, is one of the five recognized selectors for All-American status.

Banks is now a unanimous All-American, becoming the 25th Longhorn to earn that distinction. He also was named first-team All-SEC, the Outland Trophy winner, and the Lombardi Award winner. A shoo-in to be a first-round selection in the 2025 NFL Draft should he declare, Banks missed his first career game when he was unable to play in the SEC Championship game. He’s been a mainstay protecting the blind side on the Longhorn offensive line since 2022 and will leave Texas as one of the most decorated players to ever wear the burnt orange.
Barron, the Thorpe Award winner, earned consensus All-American status with his nod from The Sporting News. Barron was also first-team All-SEC and a finalist for the Bronko Nagurski Trophy. He tallied 47 tackles with 2.0 for loss plus one sack along with a team-best five interceptions during the 2024 season.
Hill’s accolades from The Sporting News joined second-team selections from the AP and the Walter Camp Football Foundation. Hill led the Longhorns in tackles with 90 and also added 16.0 tackles for loss, 7.5 sacks, four forced fumbles, a fumble recovery, and an interception.
Texas faces Clemson in the first round of the 2024 College Football Playoff on Saturday at 3 p.m. in Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium. The game will air on TNT and stream on MAX.
