Banks leaves Texas as one of the most decorated offensive linemen, if not one of the most decorated players, in the history of the program. He was a unanimous All-American selection in 2024, taking home the Lombardi Award, the Outland Trophy, and the Jacobs Blocking Trophy in the process.

He was a first-team All-SEC selection in 2024, a first-team All-Big 12 selection in 2023, and a second-team All-Big 12 selection in 2022. During his freshman season in 2022, he earned Freshman All-America honors from the FWAA. The Longhorns reached two College Football Playoff semifinals, won the 2023 Big 12 Championship, and played for the 2024 SEC Championship with Banks anchoring the left tackle spot.

A product of Humble (Texas) Summer Creek, Banks was ranked as the No. 22 overall prospect, the No. 2 offensive tackle, and the No. 5 player in Texas in the 2022 On3 Industry Ranking. On3 ranked Banks as the No. 6 overall prospect, the No. 1 offensive tackle, and the No. 1 player in Texas.

Banks becomes the first Longhorn offensive lineman taken in the first round of the NFL draft since the Buffalo Bills selected Mike Williams at No. 4 overall in 2002.
