Worthy, a third-year player from Fresno (Calif.) Central East, was named an AP preseason All-American for the second time in his career. Worthy has played and started in 25 career games with 122 career receptions, 1741 yards, and 21 touchdowns. He is third all time in Texas history in touchdown receptions.
While playing through a broken hand during the second part of the 2022 campaign, Worthy caught 60 passes for 760 yards and nine touchdowns. That followed a 62-catch, 981-yard, 12-touchdown freshman season in 2021.
Worthy has also been named to watch lists for the Maxwell Award, the Paul Horning Award, the Biletnikoff Award, the Walter Camp Player of the Year, and the Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award.
Banks, a second-year player out of Humble (Texas) Summer Creek, started all 13 games at left tackle last season as a true freshman. He earned freshman All-America honors from The Athletic, the FWAA, and ESPN. He was a second-team All-Big 12 selection in 2022.
Banks has been named to watch lists for the Outland Trophy and the Lombardi Award.
Worthy and Banks are both preseason All-Big 12 selections, with Worthy being the only unanimous selection from the entire conference.
