Kimble Schuessler takes home SEC co-player of the week honors

The Schuess is loose. Texas first baseman Kimble Schuessler was named Southeastern Conference co-player of the week, the league announced Monday. It’s the first weekly distinction of Schuessler’s career.

Schuessler was sizzling in the past week, slashing .714/.765/1.500 (AVG/OBP/SLG) with three home runs and 10 RBI during a 4-0 week for the Longhorns. He notched eight RBI in Texas’ 14-2 win over Auburn on Saturday, slugging two homers in the process. He reached base safely in 13 of his 17 plate appearances during the last week. He was 10-for-14 with three homers and two doubles against the Vaqueros and the Tigers.

This season, Schuessler is slashing .327/.402/.567 with 28 RBI, six home runs, 11 walks, and two hit by pitch. He’s also fielding a quality .994 at first base, with 2025 being the first year he’s been full time at the position in burnt orange.

Schuessler is one of six Texas players to have collected SEC weekly accolades in 2025, alongside sophomore Will Gasparino (March 31), Luke Harrison (Feb. 17), Ruger Riojas (March 31), Adrian Rodriguez (Feb. 17) and Dylan Volantis (March 24 & April 7).

Schuessler and the No. 1 Longhorns will face his former team, Texas A&M, this weekend. Texas will first travel to San Marcos to battle Texas State on Tuesday.
