Texas prevents the Wildcats from making much progress, but a Silas Bolden muffed punt makes things interesting. He jumps on top of his own fumble to give the Longhorns the ball on their own 14 with 11:32 left in the game.

Jaydon Blue fumbles, Kentucky misses a field goal

The Longhorn running back fumbles yet again and the Kentucky Wildcats recover on the Texas 32. Cutter Boley converts a pass to make it first and goal for UK on the first play after the fumble. After that, the Longhorn defense holds and Kentucky kicker Alex Raynor misses a 33-yarder to keep the game at 24-7 Texas with 3:40 left in the third quarter.

After the penalty, Texas stuffs the Wildcats near midfield.

Ja’Mori Maclin hauls in a reception and scampers for a 42-yard gain to put the Wildcats at the Texas 12. Two plays later on 3rd and 1, Demie Sumo-Karngbay fumbles to set up a 4th and 1. Brock Vandagriff then finds Josh Kattus on a 4-yard TD to make it a 7-7 game.

The Longhorns had two penalties stall out their drive, though an uncalled pass interference on a throw intended for Ryan Wingo was one of the biggest impacts of Texas’ drive. Michael Kern’s punt is returned to the Kentucky 27.

Jamarion Wilcox picks up one first down but the Longhorn defense holds up after that thanks to a number of negative plays. Texas takes over on its own 16 after a 43-yard punt by Aidan Laros.

Despite a 3rd and 11 on the opening series, Ewers completes a pass to Matthew Golden to move the chains. Another pass from Ewers to Golden results in a first down and puts Texas into UK territory. Golden hauls in another pass, his third reception, on a RPO to go inside the red zone. The Longhorns get to 4th down inside the Kentucky five yard-line, but Ewers finds Gunnar Helm for a touchdown to make it 7-0 with 10:00 left in the first quarter.
