An errant throw from Pavia is intercepted and returned for a touchdown by Kobe Black but Vernon Broughton is flagged for targeting. The Commodores set up a 1st-and-goal with under a minute left. Pavia hits Stowers for a TD pass with 0:46 left. The PAT is good. 27-24 Texas.
Texas starts in Vandy territory after Lefau’s interception
10/26/2024, 6:12:56 PMTexas gets to 3rd-and-9 after a holding call thanks to a nice throw from Ewers to Wingo, which also likely gets Texas into field goal range. The ball goes to Blue on a rush and he gets the first down and moves inside the 10. At the two-minute warning, it’s 24-17 Texas with an Auburn field goal attempt upcoming. 27-17, Texas.
Vanderbilt has a chance to tie with 8:10 left, but it falls short

Ewers finds Blue again for another Texas first down near midfield. The Longhorns move into Vanderbilt territory as the third quarter ends. A bunch of negative plays have Texas punting on 4th and 18.

A fourth-down try for Vanderbilt draws a pass interference flag on Malik Muhammad and the Commodores move into the red zone. The Commodores then get to 1st-and-goal, but can’t get six after one, two, and three tries. On 4th-and-goal, Pavia finds Junior Sherrill for the score. 24-17 Texas with 3:11 in the third.

Texas takes over for its first second-half possession, nets three points
10/26/2024, 5:20:55 PMTexas starts on its own side of the field and picks up a couple of first downs, but a penalty and decent defense creates a 3rd-and-7 for the Longhorns. Vanderbilt calls a timeout before the pivotal snap, but Wisner gets a big run from Wisner to move the sticks. Texas then faces a 3rd-and-long on the Vandy 22, but a pass from Ewers intended for Wisner is incomplete. Bert Auburn hits a field goal to make it 24-10.

10/26/2024, 4:39:49 PMA deep pass intended for Ryan Wingo from Ewers falls incomplete, ending Ewers’ 17-pass completion streak. On 3rd and 3, Ewers is sacked and the Commodores call a timeout. A Kern punt goes out of bounds at the Vandy 35.
Diego Pavia leaves due to injury just before half, returns at two-minute timeout
10/26/2024, 4:31:09 PMWhile driving close to midfield, Pavia leaves the game due to an ankle injury and Nate Johnson replaces him. Pavia enters the injury tent. The Commodores convert a 3rd-and-9 with a pass to Eli Stowers as the two-minute timeout arrives. Pavia returns, but Sedrick Alexander fumbles. Taaffe forces it and Moore recovers.
Texas takes possession with just under 7:00 until halftime, makes it 21-7
10/26/2024, 4:20:15 PMEwers threads a needle to Helm for a 24-yard gain. A few plays later, Ewers hits Moore for a 25-yard score. It’s Moore’s second. Ewers has completed 17-straight at this juncture.

Longhorns get into Commodore territory, but a sack causes a punt

Blue helps the Longhorns get back in Vandy territory, but a holding flag gives Texas another 2nd-and-long. A protection breakdown results in a sack and Texas has to punt after getting into Vanderbilt’s side of the field. Michael Kern’s punt is downed at the one by Moore.

Vanderbilt goes for it but an illegal formation undoes the conversion. Silas Bolden’s return puts the Longhorns back on the Vandy side of the field.

Then, DeAndre Moore finds a hole on a screen to pick up 31 yards and move inside the red zone. Quinn Ewers finds Matthew Golden on a 3-yard score on a quick out. Bert Auburn’s PAT is good.
