LIVE UPDATES: Texas concludes spring practice with 2023 Orange-White Game

The Texas Longhorns will be on Campbell-Williams Field at Darrell K Royal – Texas Memorial Stadium for the annual Orange-White Game. Head coach Steve Sarkisian has split the teams for the event which will kick off at 1 p.m.

Keilan Robinson, Jaylon Guilbeau, Derion Gullette, Cole Hutson, Reece Beauchamp, Casey Cain, Isaiah Neyor, Jalen Catalon, DJ Campbell, Connor Robertson, and Juan Davis will not participate.

Austin Jordan is in a green non-contact jersey. AD Mitchell was in a green non-contact jersey during pregame warmups. Jahdae Barron is in a green non-contact jersey.

Fourth Quarter

Manning looks for DeAndre Moore again but can’t convert as Ryan Watts blows him up after adequate pressure and sacks put the offense behind the chains.

With Ewers at quarterback, Baxter runs well to gain nine yards on second down before he’s taken down by Brooks. Facing 3rd & short, Blue is tackled in the backfield to make it 4th down, then the offense is stopped once again to turn the ball over.

Murphy starts his drive with a 23-yard pass to Moore to move further into opposing territory. He then converts a fourth down with a pass to Moore to move the chains. It gets to 3rd & goal after Red tries a trick play that goes awry. On 4th & goal, Murphy looks for Gunnar Helm but it falls incomplete thanks to good defense from Liona Lefau.

Charles Wright takes the field for the White team. He fires a strike over the middle on 3rd down to Jaden Alexis for the first down, then finds AD Mitchell for another first a few plays later. However, he’s unable to move the sticks

Cole Lourd enters at quarterback for a handful of offensive plays before time runs out. White 21, Orange 10

Third Quarter

Arch Manning takes the field to begin the third quarter of action. Savion Red breaks off a 21-yard run to move near midfield. But the drive stalls and the Orange team can’t do anything with it.

Back to back negative plays and an unconverted deep shot turn the ball over on downs yet again, with Terrance Brooks in close coverage.

Maalik Murphy finds Johntay Cook for an 79-yard touchdown pass one play after Murphy hit DeAndre Moore with a perfect ball that he dropped. 21-10 White

Quinn Ewers’ ensuing drive ends in a three-and-out.

Second Quarter

Maalik Murphy fires a strike to Ky Woods for a 35 yard gain. A few plays later, Savion Red crosses the line to gain for a first down. He and the rest of the offense are unable to do any more, and the field goal unit takes the field. Will Stone hits a 27-yarder. 7-3 White

Quinn Ewers finds AD Mitchell for a 9 yard gain to start the drive, and CJ Baxter picks up the first down thanks to a great cut. The offense gets into a 3rd & 14 situation but Ewers find Jordan Whittington for a first down. Jaydon Blue then has a great run from 31 yards out for a touchdown. 14-3 White 4:24

Arch Manning scrambles then Ky Woods has a nifty run for a first down. The drive stalls as Arch Manning is pressured by Sydir Mitchell and a host of other O-linemen.

Ewers finds Whittington for a short pass and he takes it 21 yards to the White 44-yard-line after a number of missed tackles. Then, Texas moves down the field thanks to a pass from Ewers to Worthy, then Whittington.

With a handful of seconds left, Ewers finds AD Mitchell in the end zone, and he makes a one-handed catch for another score as halftime begins. 21-3 White

First Quarter

Jordan Whittington and Jaydon Blue are back deep to return.

Quinn Ewers and the White offense will start. White OL is Kelvin Banks, Neto Umeozulu, Jake Majors, Cam Williams, Christian Jones. Ewers and the White offense goes three-and-out after two incompletions and a short gain on a swing pass to Xavier Worthy.

Savion Red starts things off for the Orange team, with a rush and a catch to make it third and short. A short pass to DeAndre Moore falls incomplete, and so it’s back to back three-and-outs.

Ewers finds Mitchell for the first first down of the game for the White team. He does it again on 3rd & 7 to pick up a first and move near midfield. Ewers then finds Worthy on a deep play action, and it’s complete to Worthy inside the five for a 46 yard gain. On 4th & Goal, CJ Baxter finds the end zone. 7-0 White

Arch Manning takes the field for the Orange offense to an ovation. He completes a pass to Thatcher Milton to make it third and short. He’s then flushed from the pocket a handful of times and the drive stalls and his squad has to punt. Ewers takes the field.

He finds Worthy again on an RPO, with Malik Muhammad making the tackle. That’s as far as the offense gets before the quarter ends.
