LOOK: Arch Manning takes part in first Texas football practice
The Texas Longhorns took to the Frank Denius Fields early on Monday morning for the first of 15 spring practices that will culminate with the annual Orange-White Game on April 15. For a group of early-enrollee true freshmen and transfers, it was their first time to put on a helmet as a Longhorn football player. One of those players was Five-Star Plus+ quarterback Arch Manning.

Manning, the crown jewel of Texas’ 2023 class and the No. 1 player in country in his class according to the On3 Industry Ranking, is in a quarterback room with fellow Five-Star Plus+ signal caller Quinn Ewers, Maalik Murphy, and Charles Wright.
Manning, who was ranked as the No. 3 overall prospect in the 2023 class by On3, was the catalyst in Texas’ efforts to sign back-to-back top five classes. The high school group signed by Steve Sarkisian and his coaching staff finished No. 3 in the On3 Industry Ranking Football Team Recruiting Rankings. Manning’s decision was influential toward four offensive linemen and several premier skill position players like Johntay Cook and Cedric Baxter Jr. joining the class.
As a senior at New Orleans (La.) Isidore Newman, Manning passed for 2270 yards and completed 140-of-229 passes with 34 touchdowns to just two interceptions. For his 42-game career with the Greenies, Manning was 642-of-996 for 8539 yards and 115 touchdowns to 19 interceptions. He also rushed 98 times for 748 yards and 19 touchdowns.

The subject of one of the highest-profile recruitments in college football history, Manning’s list of finalists was whittled down to Texas, Alabama, and Georgia. The son of Cooper, nephew of Peyton and Eli, and grandson of Archie Manning visited all three schools during the spring before announcing his commitment to Texas on June 23.
He took several visits to Texas in the following months, including playing a key role in the recruitments of Baxter and Colton Vasek, before enrolling early and participating in winter workouts.
Now, with his first steps on the Denius Fields, his career as a Longhorn has begun.
