LOOK: SEC logos added to Texas' Campbell-Williams Field
The Texas Longhorns aren’t officially in the Southeastern Conference until July 1, but the preparations for the entire athletic department’s first season in the league are in full swing. Volleyball played a few spring matches on a court with SEC logos. Men’s basketball just added the logos to its practice floor. Now, the same can be said for football.

Big 12 logos adorned the field during the Longhorns’ spring game on April 20, but now with Texas joining the SEC it was time to make changes to the artificial turf.
Texas’ first game with the logos on the field and the jerseys will be August 31 against the Colorado State Rams.
Chris Del Conte on Texas’ SEC move: “We’re just going home”
Back in February, Texas athletics director Chris Del Conte said that the Longhorns move to the SEC was an instance of the school “going home.”
“We know the anticipation of going into the Southeastern Conference is coming, and we wanted to let everyone know that Texas lives there,” Del Conte said. “In 1903, Texas was a member of the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic (Association), the precursor to the SEC. That was where we were at one time, and we’re just going home.”

In addition, Texas will hold a huge celebration as the clock strikes midnight on June 30 and changes to July 1.
Del Conte announced there would be a celebration of Texas joining the SEC held on the South Mall during UT’s final day as a member of the Big 12. Del Conte said SEC commissioner Greg Sankey and “all the brass” from the league would be in Austin for something CDC likened to Christmas Eve.

“For us, it’s the first time to showcase who we are as an institution and who we’re joining,” Del Conte said. “Having the brass of the Southeastern Conference here that day is going to be really phenomenal. It’s going to be a true celebration of our great institution.”
