In their first season in the SEC, the Horns have been very successful, going 46-10, and 16-8 in conference play. After losing in the SEC Tournament Semifinals to Texas A&M, Texas looks ahead to the Tournament, where they have a very good shot at being a top 8 seed. Here’s what the Horns’ resume looks like:

Big Wins:

Texas Tech (2-1, 11-0):

The Horns defeated Texas Tech, currently ranked 11th, twice this season. Tech won the Big 12, and the two victories are big non-conference wins for Texas.

Series at Florida (2-1):

In their first SEC series, Texas went into Gainesville and defeated the Gators in the first two games. They lost the third, but the series win against the team currently ranked 4th shows the Horns have the potential to beat anyone.

Series at Mississippi State (2-1):

The Horns went on the road and beat the Bulldogs (ranked 18th right now) in 2 of 3 games.

Series vs LSU (2-1):

In their third to last SEC series, the Horns welcomed the Tigers to Austin. Texas hit a walk-off grand slam to win game one, dropped the second game, and had a walk off single in game three to take the series. LSU is currently ranked 9th.

Tough Losses:

Series vs Tennessee (1-2):

Texas won the first game against the Volunteers 3-0, but then only scored 1 run in each of the next two games, losing both. Tennessee is currently ranked 3rd in the nation.

Series at Oklahoma (0-3):

Texas struggled early against the Sooners, getting down big in game one. They fought their way back, but still fell short, 6-7. Texas lost by 5 in game two and by 1 in game three. The Sooners are currently 2nd in the nation.

SEC Tournament vs Texas A&M (2-14):

Texas collapsed in the SEC semifinals against the Aggies. A&M run-ruled them in 5 innings, 14-2, as the Texas pitchers could not buy an out, and the bats never really got anything going against Emiley Kennedy, the same pitcher who nearly led A&M to an upset over Texas in the Super Regionals last year. A&M is first in the nation right now.
