“Sark is a very cerebral guy and coach (Terry) Joseph has really been picking it up and keeping in contact with me,” said Muhammad. “Coach (Jeff) Banks has also been great. Coach B. Harris and coach (Chris) Gilbert played a big role.”

Muhammad is ranked as the No. 56 overall player in the nation, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. The Consensus ranks him as the No. 5 cornerback in the country and No. 9 prospect in Texas.

On3’s own rankings label Muhammad as the No. 30 overall prospect, the No. 2 cornerback, and the No. 3 prospect in the state of Texas.

During SOC’s run to the 2021 5A state championship, Muhammad had three interceptions to go along with 68 total tackles.

He is the 19th member of Texas’ 2023 class.

How Muhammad fits at Texas

Muhammad is an explosive, wiry defensive back prospect who glides around the field with good awareness and bad intentions. At 5-foot-11, he has the frame to fill out into a powerful, press-man corner with the strength and hips to stick on receivers in press-man coverage. He may also spin inside to nickel due to his quickness and ball skills, which could allow him to match tight on receivers in the slot and be involved around the box or the wide flat. – Ian Boyd

Coach Says

Strengths – Fluid athlete with great acceleration and top end, straight-line speed. Zone and man highlights. Very good in leverage position. Gets a good jam at the line and shows impressive upper body strength re-routing receivers and shedding blockers. Willing tackler who generally stays squared up.  Very good feet with smooth backpedal.  Flips the hips with ease and has a natural feel for the position of the receiver. Very good closing speed. Punt return contributor.

Areas for Improvement / Concern – Needs a college S&C program, and better eye discipline.
