Johnson had signed with North Carolina earlier today.
Johnson, a three-star prospect out of Allentown (Pa.) who attended Cheshire Academy in Connecticut, tallied 19 tackles and one sack during his career in College Park. He was listed at 6-foot-2, 311 pounds by the terps.
Johnson tallied 14 tackles in 2024 for a 4-8 Maryland team. According to PFF, Johnson earned a defensive grade of 64.8, a run defense grade of 61.8, and a tackling grade of 70.3. Most of his 164 total snaps were spent in the B-gap with the rest split between snaps in the A-gap and snaps over the offensive tackle.
He bolsters a defensive line room that now features Shaw, Brevard, Kanu, Alex January, Melvin Hills, Justus Terry, Josiah Sharma, and Myron Charles.
