Every single team currently in the top 10 of the 2026 On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings has at least five commitments, except for the Texas Longhorns. Yet after the addition of Melissa (Texas) offensive lineman Max Wright to the Longhorns’ 2026 class, Texas already boasts the No. 8 class in the 2026 recruiting rankings.

Wright, a On3 Industry Ranking four-star who checks in as the No. 305 overall prospect, joins Pearland (Texas) Shadow Creek wide receiver Christopher Stewart and Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) American Heritage quarterback Dia Bell in the class. Stewart is an On3 Industry Ranking four-star, while Bell is a five-star and the No. 13 overall prospect at the current juncture.

With 10 months until the early National Signing Day, Texas’ class ranks No. 5 in the Southeastern Conference. The Longhorns, however, are one of two SEC teams with a commit from a five-star along with the Tennessee Volunteers. Houston, Ohio State, and Maryland currently are the other schools with five-star commitments.

Texas signed the No. 1 class in the 2025 cycle thanks to five On3 Industry Ranking five-stars inking with the Longhorns, more than any other team. Steve Sarkisian‘s program added Jonah Williams, Justus Terry, Lance Jackson, Kaliq Lockett, and Kade Phillips from the top-32, additions that weigh heavily in the equation that creates recruiting rankings.

To sign another top class, the Longhorns will look to add a number of highly-ranked prospects like Chris Henry Jr., Tristen Keys, John Turntine, KJ Edwards, Jalen Lott, Jamarion Carlton, Aaron Gregory, Felix Ojo, Bryce Perry-Wright, Naeem Burroughs, Javian Osborne, Mark Bowman, Jabari Mack, and Kaydon Finley from the top 100 of the On3 Industry Ranking.

The path to that class will be long and winding until pen hits paper in early December, but it exists for Texas to sign yet another highly-ranked, elite class.
