AUSTIN -- Tom Herman has attributes he prefers for slot receivers in his offense. It's safe to assume a prospect with 4.33 (40) speed fits his preferences.
That's one reason Louisville (KY) Trinity wide receiver Rondale Moore committed to Texas today. Moore, one of the fastest wide receivers in the country, chose Texas over competing offers from Kentucky, Ohio State, Purdue, Penn State, and Pittsburgh, among others.

A 4.33 (40), 4.1 (shuttle), and 42.7" vertical tells you that he's just plain explosive moving in any direction. His speed is devastating at the high school level, his QB can lead him down the field at angles that the high school defenders are not used to handling and he outruns them to the football. He's an ideal slot for Texas because he's devastating in space but is also already a strong route runner that could be counted on to beat man coverage in the middle of the field or attack safeties vertically. - IB
Coach says: You can’t teach size or speed and this kid has the latter in spades. Finding a guy with true 4.33 speed is pretty rare and this kid has the kind of speed and burst that will blow out some hamstrings. He has the ability to turn short passes into big plays, he can route you up and run past you, and he’s absolute hell in the open field with his ability to elude defenders. He also adds value as a returner and is the kind of player that just needs a few inches of daylight to break the big one. An added bonus on tape that I wasn’t expecting is that despite his size, he possesses a willingness to mix it up as a blocker and really tries to get after guys in that phase of the game. Maybe it’s his Napoleon complex showing through, but I admire the effort.
How this affects Texas: You'd think the fastest recruit in the nation would have more suitors. Don't get it twisted, he's got some nice schools begging for his services, but it looks like Texas might've gained an edge last weekend at the pool party. - JW
