SEMINOLE -- Texas figured out where West Texas was, and grabbed a rising prospect from the region.
2018 Seminole OL/TE Reese Moore committed to Texas today over offers from Oklahoma, Missouri, Oklahoma State, SMU and TCU, among others.
Moore, who also excels on the basketball court after being named 2-4A District MVP, is a player that projects at tight end and offensive tackle. He's visited Austin many times, and after a recent trip from OL coach Derek Warehime, Moore decided to pull the trigger.
Recruiting Notebook evaluation:
Moore is an offensive lineman with good hands and good fluidity, hence his current role with his team as a tight end. He's not quick enough to have a future at TE in college and at 6-foot-6, 250 or so now, he'll probably end up much too big regardless. Seminole also uses him a lot in "unbalanced" tackle-over formations in which he serves as an OT on run plays and some play-action and you can get a sense of where he's at currently in developing an OT's skill set. He has good feet to play outside but also absolutely absurd power in his punch, you regularly see him knock guys to the ground with jabs and shoves. - Ian Boyd
He's a great athlete for the OL with potential to become a LT, his current service ranking is a result of playing out of position (TE, DE, punter) in nowheresville West Texas, his future could be as the best OT in the state this year.
Moore becomes the 5th member of Texas' 2018 class joining Cameron Rising (Newbury Park, CA), Casey Thompson (Southmoore, OK), Byron Hobbs (FW Eastern Hills), and Justin Watkins (Ocala [FL] Vanguard).
