Moro Ojomo selected by the Philadelphia Eagles in the 7th round of the 2023 NFL draft

Texas’ strong tradition with defensive linemen and the NFL draft continues. Longhorns defensive tackle Moro Ojomo was selected by the Philadelphia Eagles with the 249th pick in the 7th round of the 2023 NFL Draft.

Ojomo, a product of Katy (Texas), tallied 95 tackles with 13.5 TFL and 5.0 sacks for the Longhorns during his five seasons in burnt orange. He played in 50 games, starting 30, and earned second-team All-Big 12 honors from the Associated Press and the league’s coaches for his 2022 season.

As a senior, he played in 12 games with five starts. He tallied 32 tackles with a career-high 5.5 for loss and 3.0 sacks, also a career best. That followed a 2021 campaign where in 12 games he tallied 29 tackles with 3.0 for loss, plus a pass defended.

His last two seasons saw him featured at defensive tackle. In 2020 while playing more of a defensive end position, Ojomo had 21 tackles with 2.5 for loss and 2.0 sacks. The 2019 season saw him play more of an interior defensive line role in Todd Orlando’s three-man front. During that campaign, he had 13 tackles with 2.5 for loss. Ojomo appeared in three games during his freshman 2018 season.

A member of Texas’ class of 2018, Ojomo was rated as the No. 345 overall prospect, the No. 36 defensive lineman, and the No. 50 player in the state of Texas, according to the On3 Industry Ranking. Ojomo’s profile exploded after a standout senior year at Katy, with schools like Miami, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, and Oregon in pursuit of his services. He committed to the Longhorns after visiting all those schools in January and February of 2018.

Ojomo leaves Texas as a graduate of the McCombs School of Business with a degree in finance.

He joins fellow Longhorn selections Bijan Robinson, DeMarvion Overshown, Roschon Johnson, and Keondre Coburn as players picked in the 2023 draft.
