Multiple Texas Longhorns player ratings leaked ahead of release of CFB 26 video game

It’s hard to forget the hype brought to the college football world last offseason with the reintroduction of the EA CFB franchise, marking the return of the popular video game series for the first time since 2014.
The launch of EA CFB 25 created tangible buzz in the college football world, with a cover featuring Texas QB Quinn Ewers, eventual Heisman winner Travis Hunter, and Donovan Edwards, for some reason. This year, EA won’t replicate the same initial publicity it garnered in 2025, but fans (and certain Inside Texas reporters who own PS5s) have been closely monitoring gameplay changes, graphic updates, and trailers as the July 10 release date approaches.
While Texas might not be featured on the cover of the game this year, the Longhorns seem to be topping many of the highest overall ratings in the game. In a leak recently released on Twitter, seven Texas Longhorn player ratings were revealed, seemingly noting the seven highest-rated players on the team:
- LB Anthony Hill – 95
- EDGE Colin Simmons – 93
- CB Malik Muhammad – 92
- S Michael Taaffe – 91
- RB Tre Wisner – 91
- QB Arch Manning – 90
- WR Ryan Wingo – 86
To no one’s surprise, the dynamic duo of Anthony Hill and Colin Simmons are the top-rated players for Texas in EA CFB 26. While they don’t top the 98 and 96 ratings of Ohio State duo Jeremiah Smith and Caleb Downs, Hill is tied for the third-highest rated player in the game with his 95 rating. Simmons trails only Clemson’s TJ Parker and South Carolina’s Dylan Stewart as the highest-rated edge rusher in the game.
Surprisingly, CB Malik Muhammad received a higher rating than S Michael Taaffe, an All-American last season and one of the best safeties in the nation. Muhammad, while projected to be a strong CB1 following the graduation of Jahdae Barron to the NFL, was far from a 92-rated corner in 2024.

Some projection of ratings is apparent from the EA staff, as QB Arch Manning, who has started just two career games, already sits at a 90 overall. Similarly, Ryan Wingo holds an 86 despite recording just 472 receiving yards last season. This duo is expected to see their ratings rise as the season progresses, especially if they fulfill projections of becoming a top QB-WR tandem in the SEC. Manning is tied for the seventh-highest-rated QB in the game, while RB Tre Wisner is also tied for seventh at his position.
Additional leaks have revealed more general ratings in the game. Texas is expected to be the highest-rated team, with Ohio State and Penn State likely tied or slightly behind the Longhorns.
Wingo also ranks as one of the fastest players in the game, earning a 96-speed rating and proving just how overpowered he’ll be this cycle. Safety Xavier Filsaime and RB/WR Ryan Niblett also cracked the fastest player lists with 95 and 94 speed ratings, respectively.
Texas will be one of the best teams in the game this year and will feature some of the most fun players to use. The Wingo and Manning connection will be a fantastic deep-threat combo, and Texas’ defense should be the best and deepest in the game. Get those controllers ready — the Horns are going to be a problem.
