Kaliq, you came to Austin the first time with no offers and no stars. Now you’re a five-star that just picked the Horns. What was it about Texas that made it the choice?
KL: “What’s not to like about Texas? We’re up-and-coming Wide Receiver U! We can talk about how they’ve got Isaiah Bond, Johntay Cook, DeAndre Moore, Silas Bolden, Ryan Wingo, and Aaron Butler along with me over there. It’s a blessing in and of itself. It’s been a long journey. There were times when I didn’t even think Texas was going to be the school. But we got it done.”
How’s your relationship with Coach Sark and Chris Jackson?
KL: “Man, I’ve been building a relationship with Coach Sark since I was a freshman. He wanted to see how I would develop as a player and how I would develop as a person. I fit the Texas mold. Hook ‘Em all the way.”
What does it mean to be able to decide on your mom’s birthday?
KL: “I did it all for her, too. She’s the reason why I’m here right now. She gave me life. I’m doing it for my mom and my dad and my family to get them a big ol’ house in the hills. It was very special to do it on my mom’s birthday. Now, I’m fixing to go celebrate.”
