The SEC opener for Texas will be the fifth time the Horns and Mississippi State have played, going 2-2 in the previous four games. The last matchup was in the 1999 Cotton Bowl classic where Texas toppled Miss State, 38-11, behind Ricky Williams‘ legs and a stingy UT defense. It was after Williams had garnered the Heisman Trophy and Doak Walker Award following his record-breaking senior season.
