Texas (26-8) is a No. 2 seed for the first time since the 2007-08 season. That Texas team led by D.J. Augustin and Damion James advanced to the Elite Eight before losing to No. 1 seed Memphis. That was the fourth time the program advanced to the second weekend of the NCAA Tournament since the field expanded to 64 in 1985.

Colgate (26-8) enters the NCAA Tournament as the top three-point shooting team in the country at 40.8%, and also one of the worst free throw shooting teams in college basketball. The Patriot League Champions return five key players from last seasons Round of 64 team that lost 67-60 to Wisconsin.
