Now a senior, Zelus Hicks wants to take his official visit to Texas

Ranked as the No. 15 safety in the 2025 class by the On3 Industry Ranking, Hicks’ commitment not only strengthens Texas’ more immediate future on the field but also elevates the Longhorns’ recruiting class from No. 6 to No. 5 nationally.
In a conversation with Inside Texas, Hicks expressed his excitement about joining the 2025 class. He can take an official visit paid for by the school and he told IT he’s working on getting that visit set up. He’s eager to reconnect with the coaching staff in person and fully immerse himself in Texas’ culture and vision. This comes after Hicks took a visit to Tennessee for the Volunteers’ win over Kentucky on November 2.
There are a number of opportunities remaining for Hicks to official visit before the calendar turns to 2025. Texas has a home game this Saturday against Florida, plus one more on November 23 against Kentucky.
Visiting between December 2-8 is off the table as that is a NCAA-mandated dead period. The dead period turns into a quiet period on December 9 and runs all the way through December 22. That means if Texas were to host a home game in the College Football Playoff on either December 20 or 21, Hicks could take his official then.

Along with December 14, an open date on the calendar for Texas, those are the only possible weekend dates in 2024 available to Hicks.
As far as enrolling early, IT has not been able to confirm whether Hicks will do so following his reclassification.
Once he hits the field, Hicks is expected to bring a level of physicality that will elevate Texas’ defense. Known for his strong tackling and aggressive play style, he can cover ground quickly and make disruptive plays in the backfield. His presence adds a physical edge to the secondary, and his hard-hitting approach promises to energize the defense as he steps into a key role for the Longhorns.
