It’s a big weekend for the Longhorns, with 10 offensive players and 12 defensive players scheduled to be on campus.
“It’s a fairly well-rounded group,” Burton said. “Most of these guys did not commit elsewhere, so almost every player is still on the board for them.”
Nahlin, the publisher of InsideTexas.com, said Texas is in a good spot.
“This isn’t even the big recruiting weekend if you’re going by pure star power, if you’re going by rankings and all that which are very important on a macro level,” Nahlin said.
“I’m still excited about the number of guys and really just having real recruiting excitement,” Nahlin added. “We have not had a lot of activity in really almost a year. It goes back to last August, that was the last time we really had a windfall of excitement.”

This weekend will clarify Texas coach Steve Sarkisian’s focus for the 2024 class.
“We’re gearing up right now with the big board with some spots to clarify for us,” Nahlin said. “We never know exactly who Sarkisian is going to push for at the last minute and now we’re about to get close to finding out.”
Burton is uber-encouraged by the way this cycle has started.
“And I’ll tell you why,” he said. “Two weeks ago when KJ Lacey committed that really set the tone. Right now we’re into a situation where, okay, this is really the true beginning of the next class and they have all their guys coming in. I think it’s impressive.”
