In this episode, Trey and Justin discuss:
- Trey and Justin start with post-Christmas hangover and things our kids received from Santa Claus. BREAKING: No toys in the Wells’ household.
- Trey and Justin put a bow on UT’s Top 3 recruiting class, as we recap Arch Manning, Cedric Baxter, and Johntay Cook on offense, then Anthony Hill Jr, Derek Williams, and Tausili Akana on the defensive end. The linebacker position was strong, with Akaka, Hill Jr, and Gullette, plus Liona Lefau joining his former teammate in Akana on the Forty Acres. Top to bottom, this class was outstanding.
- Trey and Justin discuss the last remaining target for the 2023 cycle; Waco (Texas) Connally LB/ATH Jelani McDonald. The On3 four-star signed on Wednesday, but is waiting to announce his future school on January 7th at the All-American Bowl in San Antonio. They discuss his multi-sport versatility, including all-state in basketball and 4A state champion in the triple jump. McDonald is a special talent and smart kid.
- Trey and Justin look at the top 2024 targets and the must-get prospects for the Horns. They start with Temple (Texas) Lake Belton wide receiver Micah Hudson and where the Horns stand in late December. Texas, Texas A&M, Ohio State, Texas Tech, and Baylor squarely in the mix and expected back on campus in Austin soon. Copperas Cover (Texas) OL Michael Uini and Waco (Texas) Connally Kobe Black are also discussed, with an emphasis on On3 No. 1 EDGE, Duncanville star and national recruit Colin Simmons. His 6A DI state championship performance (five tackles, three tackles for loss, and two sacks) helped Reginald Samples garner his first state title. We discuss the growth of Simmons and is untapped potential. Alabama, LSU, Georgia, and Tennessee are in the mix, with the Texas staff pursuing with as a whole. Lastly, Trey and Justin discuss Bellflower (Calif.) St John Bosco Peyton Woodyard, who left Texas out of his top seven schools last month.
